In New York, having a car is tougher than having children, and as many would argue, neither is necessary. So if you’re car-less and get the urge to drive, you may as well make it count. Enter Gotham Dream Cars. Membership is free, with the $65 application fee credited toward your first rental.
Rental period options for most of the fleet are half weekday, full weekday, weekend, long weekend, and weekly. Rates begin at around $700 for 24 hours with the BMW M5 sedan and Chevrolet Corvette Z06; half-day rentals are not offered with these cars. On the other end of the spectrum, a week with the Lamborghini Gallardo Spider is close to $9,500. Other vehicle options include an Aston Martin Vanquish, two Bentleys, three Ferraris, and a Porsche 911. You live far? Not a problem. For a fee, Gotham will deliver and pick up your chariot of choice.
On a side note, if you’d like the automotive equivalent of a buffet, Gotham’s “Dream Car Tour†allows groups of participants to experience several of their cars on a structured tour. Single drivers get 30 minutes per car for $795, while dual participants split the half hour for $499 each.
